Customs Clearance FAQ

What documents are needed for import clearance in Egypt?

Usually the commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading (sea) or air waybill (air), a certificate of origin where it applies, and any product certificates (health, conformity and so on). For NAFEZA imports, an ACID number must be registered before shipment. We send you a checklist for your commodity.

How long does customs clearance take?

It depends on the cargo, the inspection and how complete the documents are. With pre-arrival processing and complete papers, many standard shipments clear within 1 to 3 business days of arrival. Restricted or project cargo can take longer, and we tell you the expected timeline upfront.

Can you estimate duties before I ship?

Yes. Send the commodity, HS code if you have it, invoice value and origin. We check the classification and estimate duties and taxes, including any savings available under trade agreements such as EUR.1, Agadir or COMESA with the right certificate of origin.

Do you handle restricted or project cargo?

Yes, subject to regulatory approval. We handle the procedures for oversized equipment, dual-use goods, chemicals and government or industrial project imports. Share the commodity details early so we can confirm the permits needed.

At all 7 Egyptian ports we work in, on the Mediterranean and the Red Sea, and at the Cairo and Borg El Arab airports.
